Inclement Weather Arrival

The best time to arrive on inclement weather days is 8:40 am when teachers are available to welcome students into their classroom.  Please know when appropriate supervision is available, students MAY be permitted to enter the building at 8:35 am.  For details, and where your student should go on early entry, please follow this link.  2009 Arrival-Dismissal and Inclement Weather Letter from Principal Majeed

School Day Cancelled

For no school, you will hear a one minute sounding of the Civil Defense Siren at 7:00 am on the day of closing.  There is also an automated dialing system that will contact you, usually by 6:00 am.

Delayed Opening @ 10:40 am

OTHER FAQ

My Child Forgot their Lunch:

If you are able to drop their lunch by the office before their scheduled lunch time, please do so.  In the event you are not able to and your child does not have a school cafeteria account, the lunch aids will give your child a peanut butter sandwich.

Lunch Account Info:

To learn how to set up an account for your child, please visit the Lunch and Recess tab on our homepage for up-to-date information.

Lost and Found:

All Lost and Found items are in the stairwell outside of the cafeteria, leading to the playground.  Items are donated to charities several times a year, so please check as soon as you realize an item has been lost.

School NURSE and

Student Medication:

Please DO NOT send your child to school with medication, assuming they will take it themselves.  All medication must be taken to the school Nurse in its original container with explicit instructions on how and when to administer.  If you child suffers from a chronic condition (asthma, diabetes) please contact the Nurse ASAP to discuss treatment plans for your child.

School NURSE and

the Student that is Ill:

In the event that your child is sick during the school day, they may rest in the Nurse’s office until either the guardian or your emergency contact is able to pick them up.  Please confirm your emergency contact information is correct.

Special Services:

If you have any questions regarding Special Services for your child, please visit the Special Services tab on our homepage for helpful information and guidance.

Before/After School Care:

The South Mountain YMCA runs the before school program and can be reached at (973) 762-4145.  The Maplewood Dept of Recreation runs the after school program and can be reached at (973) 762-0183.  The PTA is not affiliated with either of these programs.

Students New to Tuscan:
