This October all of our kids (grades k through 5!) will enjoy the first PTA funded student assembly of the year! Ginga Brasileira, a group of Brazilian dancers, will have them ready to move, clap and sing throughout the whole performance. Students will be invited to try one of the dances within the performance. Not only will they watch the dancers but will also experience for themselves how easy it is to learn about other people’s cultures through dancing, singing and speaking another language. This will give them an amazing feeling of accomplishment that will have them smiling for the rest of the day, cherishing Brazil and the Brazilian culture forever. Do not forget to ask them what they enjoyed most about it!

Yesterday we had the first PTA sponsored Student Assembly of the year, and how fun it was!
Caryn Lin presented us "From Bach to Rock, acoustic to electric violin". This program showed the kids the simplicity of the solo Acoustic Violin and its orgins demonstrated by performing a simple Bach minuet. Whisked into present day, Caryn uses the 4 & 5 string Electric Violin and Sound Effects to transcend that "solo" sound by doing what is called "Looping"- creating sound loops live that she adds to and embellishes. It was on the spot recording creating a Virtual Orchestra! From K all the way to 5th grade, every kid was so interested and participative! And when the wireless microphone was taken into the audience for more looping and sound effect fun, they were all anxious to participate! Teachers too!
