On Friday, March 1st, we eagerly awaited the little yellow bus carrying our CHS Celebrity readers to Tuscan School.  Just at 11:05, the bus appeared on Harvard Avenue.

With kindergartners and fourth graders to greet them, Columbia High School students, accompanied by their teacher, Judi Cohen, paraded into our school, ready to help celebrate Read Across America Day.  Fourteen energetic and enthusiastic students

visited our kindergarten through fifth grade classes with their some of their favorite children’s books.  Titles included If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, Just a Ball Game, Smooch the Pooch, The Giving Tree, Click Clack Moo, A Bad Case of Stripes, Bear Snores On, Casey At the Bat, Tony Baloney, I Love You, Stinky Face, Woof, Good Night Me, Good Night You, The Baseball Counting Book, and even an original work, Carl, the Abandoned Blob of Cheese Dip and Other Poems of Forgotten Edibles (a cautionary tale).   Much to the students’ delight, Jordan dressed up like the cow from Click, Clack, Moo.  In the spirit of the day and of Shel Silverstein’s book, Jake donated his selection, The Giving Tree to our library.   Lillie shared her joy of writing and illustrating with the classes she visited, and Austin, who has the lead in this year’s production of Legally Blonde, sang for Mrs. Reye’s fifth grade class.  Everyone contributed to making Tuscan’s Read Across America Day, a very special event.
