This all-volunteer, all-creative event is a Tuscan tradition - kids in grades one through five perform skits on stage (sing, dance, act) and provide support backstage (set, props, stage crew, lights, curtain, ushers, etc). Our rehearsals take place from December to March at Tuscan School. Our tech rehearsals will be the week of March 24th and performances are March 28, 29, 30 on the stage at Maplewood Middle School.
The opportunities to be involved run from skit directors to concessions - please consider joining our fantastic show. Here is more to know:
- The theme of
- There are 15 different acts. The directors of each act come up with the choreography, staging, lighting and costumes. The art directors work with students to design and create the set, the props and the logo. The backstage stage directors help the students with the lights, the curtains, the music, the ushers and anything else that needs to be done behind the scenes. (last year's show involved over 250 kids!)
- Auditions will be held in mid-October for "Hosts" - open to students in 4th and 5th grade, four girls and four boys are selected from those who audition; Columbia High School performing arts students will be the judges and select the eight hosts. Dates to come as soon as the judges are scheduled.
- Signups for skits, backstage and art crew will take place online in November
o Grades 1 to 5 can signup for skits
o Grades 4 and 5 can sign up for stage crew
o Grades 1 to 5 can sign up for art crew
- Rehearsals begin in December and continue through March.
