The Regional Coordinator for Safe Routes to School, Nora Shepard gave an informative presentation on Wednesday evening to the Tuscan PTA. Nora has been training our Tuscan SRTS committee on the Walking School Bus Program and shared much of the information with the larger audience of the PTA on the 23rd. Nora's coverage is over 700 schools, not all of them have established SRTS programs, but you can imagine how valuable her time is! She has spent many hours so far with our team, and we are so grateful for her guidance!
Maplewood Township Committee member and Deputy Mayor, Kathleen Leventhal attended the presentation as well as Assistant District Administrator, Stephen Gardberg, Principal Majeed and Vice Principal Mason. The presentation was received with great enthusiasm and nine PTA members signed up to support Tuscan's Walking School Bus Program! We are looking forward to the official starting date of our two routes on March 15th!! Stay tuned for information on our upcoming training sessions for the Walking School Bus "Drivers", all are welcome to participate. -Cami Zelevansky For more information online about SRTS and the Walking School Bus Program, please visit the State SRTS website http://www.saferoutesnj.org/ or the National Center for SRTS website http://www.saferoutesinfo.org/ |
